Shake, Rattle 'n Roll Believe it or not I'm actually blogging here, and late at night. I haven't felt much like blogging lately, except for sharing a smidgen of photos, but after today's 5.4 earthquake event, I felt like at least posting this one for posterity.
During my lunch time at work today the building started shaking a bit, then started banging up and down, followed by several seconds of strong shifting back and forth. I was munching on a piece of pita bread and put it down on the table when things started moving. Since I'm on the second floor (but as high as a third story) the floor really swayed. I could see the ceiling tiles (which are at least 20 feet above my head) shifting back and forth. I few little things on my desk fell over. I didn't freak out, and knew the best thing to do was to stay in my cubicle and not go running outside (which is pretty far from where I sit). I'm on the emergency team at work, so I was wondering if we were going to evacuate, but it never happened.
Everyone was pretty calm, although I could see one office mate looking pretty scared. Right away I got on the internet to see where the tembler was located (some websites were temporarily down) but I soon found it. I was checking IM and other of my online netwroks and several people were commenting on the earthquake, which was kinda neat how fast the news travels It was nice how several folk living outside of SoCal sent out their concerns online.
All in all, it was an eventful lunchtime, but with virtually no after-effects. yam [11:59 PM

New Photos OK, so I'm too lazy to write anything up, but at least here are a few samples of things we've been doing lately!

AWOL Yes, I've been neglecting my blog here recently but it's mostly because we've just been so busy with life. I keep having good intentions on blogging them here, but just don't get to actually posting them. Maybe some day. So, here's a super quick summary of activities that we've been busy with over the last month or so: Father's Day, Oodles Of Noodles, Employee family day, Spring band concert, 5th grade carnival, Intro to middle school, week long trip to Walt Disney World, 4th of July, Summer basketball league, new basketball team for Matthew, new braces for Matthew, my birthday weekend, etc., etc. I probably have close to a thousand photos to choose from to post here, that hopefully I'll get to one day. Keep your fingers crossed. yam [11:54 AM

Edamame Salad
I made this edamame salad for a 4th of July party tonight, based on a dish we had in Walt Disney World, that I modified to my own tastes. It has edamame, bean sprouts, carrots, red bell pepper, red onions, cucumbers, corn and flat leaf parsley. The dressing is made with miso, sesame paste, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, dijon mustard, crushed black pepper and salt. yam [5:31 PM

We've returned from Summer vacation! It was great fun, but definitely had its challenges, including weather, food poisoning, and other stuff. I'll have pics and stories soon! yam [3:20 PM
